Modern, Tech-Savvy Officers are the Future of Sindh Police, Says IG Javed Alam Odho

KARACHI (HRNW)- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has emphasized that the future of the department belongs to officers equipped with technology and modern professional training. Speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony for the “Specialized Training Workshop” held for SDPOs and SHOs at the Central Police Office, the IG highlighted how digitalization and electronic surveillance are making policing safer, more efficient, and more reliable for the public.

Key Highlights from the IGP’s Address:

  • Technological Success in Katcha Areas: The IGP revealed that by utilizing modern technology, approximately 240 kilometers of the “Katcha” (riverine) area were cleared of dacoits without any loss of life. He noted that technology is proving highly effective in forcing criminal elements to surrender.

  • Expansion of Trained Cadre: The Sindh Police aims to increase the ratio of highly trained, tech-savvy officers from the rank of ASI to DSP to at least 30%.

  • Enhancing Public Trust: IG Odho maintained that appointing educated and well-trained officers promotes community policing and strengthens the bond of trust between the police and the citizens.

Workshop Overview

The Specialized Training Workshop provided comprehensive training in several critical areas, including:

  • Counter-Terrorism and White-Collar Crime.

  • The Sindh Smart Surveillance System (S4) and the Safe City Project.

  • Stakeholder Management and Police Ethics.

  • Public Grievance Redressal Mechanisms.

The participants benefited from the expertise of former IGs, current DIGs, and specialists from civil society, NGOs, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

DIG Training Sindh detailed the curriculum, noting that the primary goal was to align field commanders—specifically SDPOs and SHOs—with modern policing requirements. The IG congratulated the successful officers and praised the efforts of the training staff for raising the standards of public service within the force.
