KARACHI (HRNW) – The Sindh High Court (SHC) conducted a hearing today regarding several petitions seeking the recovery of missing persons. During the proceedings, law enforcement agencies submitted updated progress reports on various cases of enforced disappearances.
Case Updates: Recoveries and Re-disappearances
The police presented a detailed report concerning several citizens, highlighting both progress and ongoing challenges:

The Case of Sahibzada Khan: Missing since 2024, the report revealed a troubling development. The citizen had briefly returned home on January 1st, only to go missing once again shortly after. Police confirmed that a new FIR (First Information Report) has been registered regarding his second disappearance, and a formal request has been filed to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the matter further.

Recovery in Saudabad: In a positive development, the police confirmed that Bilal, a resident of Saudabad who had been missing, has safely returned to his home. Following his recovery, the court officially disposed of the petition regarding his disappearance.
Court Directives
While disposing of the case involving the recovered citizen, the court expressed serious concern over the remaining pending cases. The bench issued the following directives:

Continued Search: Law enforcement agencies have been ordered to intensify their efforts and utilize all available resources to recover the remaining missing citizens.

Follow-up Hearing: The court has sought comprehensive responses from the police and other relevant parties by April 21.
The SHC reiterated that the recovery of missing persons remains a high priority to ensure the protection of fundamental human rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.
