Middle East Crisis Triggers Severe Flight Disruptions at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – The escalating conflict in the Middle East has cast a shadow of uncertainty over regional aviation, leading to massive delays for international and domestic flights arriving at Islamabad International Airport.

Major Flight Delays Reported

Ongoing regional instability, coupled with difficulties in jet fuel supply and operational hurdles, has severely impacted the schedules of several major airlines. As of today, at least 10 flights have faced significant delays:

  • Qatar Airways: Flight QR-632 from Doha, originally scheduled for 2:00 AM, is delayed by 15 hours and is now expected at 5:00 PM. Flight QR-614 is also delayed by 15 hours, shifting its arrival from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

  • AirSial: Flight PF-799 from Abu Dhabi is facing a 10-hour delay before reaching Islamabad.

  • PIA: Flight PK-246 from Dammam is delayed by 9 hours, expected at 8:15 PM. Flight PK-754 from Riyadh is running 2 hours late, arriving at 9:30 PM.

  • Airblue: Flight PA-271 from Jeddah is delayed by 4 hours (ETA 4:00 PM). Flight PA-217 from Dubai is 4 hours late (ETA 1:00 AM), while flight PA-279 from Dammam is delayed by 1 hour.

  • Fly Jinnah: Flight 9P-674 from Karachi is delayed by 5 hours, and flight 9P-857 from Quetta is running 2 hours late.

Operational Challenges

Aviation sources indicate that the “war-like situation” in the Middle East has disrupted supply chains, specifically affecting jet fuel availability. Airlines are struggling to maintain regular operations as airspace restrictions and logistical bottlenecks continue to evolve. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
