MAKKAH: (HRNW) The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued an urgent directive mandating that all international Umrah visa holders must depart the Kingdom by April 18, 2026 (1 Dhul Qadah 1447 AH). This “hard exit” deadline is a critical part of the Kingdom’s transition to the Hajj season, allowing authorities to clear and prepare accommodation and transport infrastructure in Makkah and Madinah for the millions of Hajj pilgrims expected to arrive soon after.
The Ministry emphasized that this deadline overrides any standard 90-day visa validity period, meaning even those who recently arrived must ensure their departure before the cutoff. Pilgrims are urged to coordinate with their travel agencies and airlines immediately to confirm their return schedules and complete check-out procedures. To ensure a smooth departure, travelers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled flights.
Strict legal warnings have been issued alongside this directive. Overstaying beyond April 18 will be treated as a serious immigration violation, potentially resulting in heavy fines, imprisonment, and deportation. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior has cautioned residents and citizens against sheltering or assisting anyone who overstays their visa, as violators will face severe penalties. This measure ensures that the holy cities can undergo deep cleaning and infrastructure maintenance before the peak Hajj gatherings commence in May.
