Power Breakdown at Hub Pumping Station Halts Water Supply to District West and Keamari

KARACHI (HRNW) : A major power breakdown at the Hub Pumping Station has caused a temporary suspension of the water supply to District West and Keamari, a spokesperson for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) confirmed on March 8, 2026. The crisis began when K-Electric’s supply from the Valika Grid Station was initially suspended, forcing the water utility to switch to a standby arrangement via the Al-Mumtaz feeder. However, at 10:40 AM, the Al-Mumtaz feeder also suffered a sudden failure, leading to a total cessation of all pumping activities at the station. According to K-Electric officials, the disruption was caused by a specific cable fault within the feeder system. KWSC management remains in constant contact with K-Electric to ensure the swift restoration of electricity so that water supply operations can resume for the affected residents.
