Karachi (HRNW) — Sui Southern Gas Company has launched a major operation in Karachi against gas theft and illegal use of pressure machines. The company announced that a zero-tolerance policy has been enforced for anyone installing unauthorized gas pressure machines.
According to the company spokesperson, illegal gas connections will be immediately disconnected, and those found using pressure machines will face fines of up to PKR 500,000.
The spokesperson added that individuals involved in gas theft may also be arrested. From now on, gas theft will not only result in fines but will also lead to criminal cases being registered.
Teams equipped with modern detection devices have been instructed to conduct door-to-door inspections to identify illegal connections and pressure machine usage.
The spokesperson warned that dangerous pressure machines are turning into bombs, posing serious risks to residents’ lives. Recent incidents in North Nazimabad, Soldier Bazaar, and Muskan Chaurangi were largely attributed to the use of such gas machines.
Residents were cautioned that those installing pressure machines are effectively turning their own homes into explosives.
