Karachi: Police Constable Martyred in Targeted Shooting Near Jamali Bridge

Karachi (HRNW) – A police constable was martyred after unidentified gunmen opened fire near Jamali Bridge in Karachi on Tuesday, according to police officials.

Police said the deceased constable, identified as Zaman, was waiting for a fellow officer before reporting for duty when the attack occurred. His colleague had briefly gone to a nearby ambulance to drink water.

According to investigators, one of the assailants approached Constable Zaman, engaged him in conversation, and then suddenly drew a pistol and opened fire. After the officer collapsed, the suspect allegedly took his official service pistol before fleeing the scene with an accomplice on a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers had been lying in wait before carrying out the assault. Police said Constable Zaman sustained five to six gunshot wounds. He was serving in the Sohrab Goth Division of the Karachi Police.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the incident and directed the SSP East to submit a detailed report. He also ordered law enforcement authorities to arrest those responsible and bring them to justice.

Police have launched an investigation, collected evidence from the crime scene, and initiated efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects.
