Rome, Italy (HRNW) – The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) have warned that acute food insecurity is expected to worsen in 13 global hunger hotspots between June and November 2026. Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, Gaza, Nigeria, and Somalia are among the countries facing the highest risk of famine due to conflict, climate shocks, economic instability, and funding shortages. The agencies have called for urgent international action to prevent further humanitarian deterioration.
