UN Weather Agency Warns Strong El Niño to Intensify from August

Geneva, Switzerland (HRNW) – The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the United Nations’ weather agency, has warned that a strong El Niño is expected to intensify during August and continue through the coming months. According to WMO, the climate pattern could drive above-average global temperatures, trigger extreme rainfall in some regions, worsen drought in others, and increase the risk of floods, wildfires, and agricultural losses. The agency urged governments to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate resilience measures.
