Karachi (HRNW) – Shah Latif Town Police have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in robbery-related activities, including one suspect who was injured during an exchange of fire with police.
According to police, during routine patrolling near Radio Pakistan Ground, Quaidabad, officers spotted two suspicious individuals riding a motorcycle without a registration plate. When police signaled them to stop, the suspects allegedly attempted to escape instead of stopping.
Police stated that during the pursuit, the suspects opened fire at the police party with an alleged intention to cause harm. Police retaliated, resulting in an exchange of fire in which suspect Tanveer Ali, son of Syed Ahmed Shah, was injured and arrested, while his accomplice Syed Qasim Ali, son of Syed Taj Muhammad, was arrested without sustaining injuries.
Police said the following items were recovered from the arrested suspects:
- One 30-bore pistol with a loaded magazine
- Three live rounds
- One mobile phone
- Cash amounting to Rs. 1,500
- One motorcycle without a registration plate
The injured suspect was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while cases have been registered against both suspects and further legal proceedings are underway.
During the preliminary investigation, police stated that the suspects confessed to being allegedly involved in multiple incidents of motorcycle snatching and theft in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif Town Police Station, Manzil Pump, and surrounding areas.
Police further stated that injured suspect Tanveer Ali is a habitual offender with a previous criminal record, including:
- FIR No. 199/24 under Sections 353/324/34 PPC, registered at Memon Goth Police Station
- FIR No. 200/24 under Section 23(i)A Sindh Arms Act, registered at Memon Goth Police Station
