Rising Terror Threat from Afghanistan Raises Regional Security Concerns, Report Says

Islamabad (HRNW)- Growing concerns are being expressed over the regional security situation as terrorist organizations continue to expand their influence in Afghanistan, with analysts warning of increasing risks for Pakistan and other countries in the region.

According to a report cited from The Washington Times, Afghanistan has once again become a significant source of regional security concerns following the return of the Afghan Taliban to power. The report states that terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory have increased pressure on Pakistan and raised concerns among regional and international security experts.

The report warns that Afghanistan could potentially become a base for future terrorist threats targeting the United States and its allies. It further notes that the consequences of the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan continue to affect regional stability, particularly in Pakistan, which remains an important partner in counterterrorism efforts.

According to the report, Washington should consider strengthening intelligence cooperation with Pakistan and increasing support for border monitoring and surveillance efforts. It also suggests that the United States review aspects of the Doha Agreement, arguing that the Taliban have not fulfilled all commitments associated with the accord.

Security experts believe that Pakistan is facing the effects of the security vacuum created after the withdrawal of US and allied forces from Afghanistan in 2021. They argue that militant activity originating from Afghan territory has become a major challenge not only for Pakistan but also for several Central and South Asian countries.

The evolving security situation continues to draw international attention as governments and security agencies assess potential risks and explore measures aimed at maintaining regional stability.
