Islamabad (HRNW) – The intense heatwave continues to affect most parts of Pakistan, including the federal capital, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting no significant relief in temperatures over the coming days.
According to the latest weather forecast, hot and dry conditions are expected to persist across much of the country, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages in several regions.
Meteorological data showed that Sibi recorded the highest temperature at 49°C, followed by Dadu and Jacobabad at 48°C. Temperatures reached 47°C in Turbat and Mohenjo Daro, while Sukkur, Nawab Shah, and Dera Ghazi Khan recorded 46°C.
Meanwhile, Multan and Bahawalpur experienced temperatures of 45°C, while Lahore recorded 43°C. The mercury rose to 42°C in Peshawar, while Islamabad and Muzaffarabad recorded 40°C. Temperatures reached 37°C in Karachi and Quetta, and 34°C in Gilgit.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that the ongoing heatwave is likely to continue until at least June 12, with Sindh expected to face moderate to severe heat conditions. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, remain hydrated and take precautionary measures during peak daytime hours.
For Karachi, weather officials have warned that temperatures may rise further in the coming days, with the mercury potentially reaching 42°C by June 12. The city’s maximum temperature is expected to remain around 39°C today, though the perceived temperature could be higher due to humidity and weather conditions.
Authorities have urged the public, particularly children, elderly individuals and outdoor workers, to take extra precautions during the ongoing heatwave.
