Karachi (HRNW): Elizabeth Threlkeld, a senior fellow and Director of the South Asia Program at the US-based Stimson Center, has warned of the looming threat of another devastating war between Pakistan and India.
In a detailed article published in the American journal Foreign Affairs, Threlkeld analyzed that even a minor incident could serve as a catalyst for a major military confrontation. She noted that evolving military doctrines, the acquisition of advanced weaponry, and a growing sense of confidence on both sides are pushing the region toward a dangerous collision.
The researcher further highlighted that the potential involvement of China and the United States, coupled with the rapid spread of misinformation on social media, could accelerate the escalation of hostilities. This environment, she warned, would severely limit diplomatic options, making it exceptionally difficult even for Washington to intervene or de-escalate the situation once a conflict begins.
