LAHORE (HRNW): The provincial capital has witnessed a distressing surge in suicide cases during the first 110 days of the current year. According to statistics, poverty, emotional failure in relationships, and mounting mental health issues have driven 37 individuals to end their lives.
The data reveals a stark gender disparity, with 33 men and 4 women among the deceased. Social experts and psychologists have termed this situation a grave societal crisis that demands immediate intervention.
Monthly Breakdown of Incidents:
-
January: 14 lives lost.
-
February: 12 incidents reported.
-
March: 06 individuals ended their lives.
-
April (1st to 20th): 05 cases recorded.
Analysts attribute this trend to the rising cost of living, unemployment, and social pressures that are fostering a sense of hopelessness, particularly among the youth. Experts emphasize the urgent need for mental health awareness campaigns and the activation of government-led helplines and counseling centers to provide support to those in distress.
