KARACHI (HRNW): With the approach of Eid-ul-Adha, the “Awam Dost” Cattle Market at the Northern Bypass has become a hub of activity. Following the arrival of cows and bulls, the ‘ships of the desert’—camels—have officially landed, further heightening the excitement and vibrance of the market.
Arrival of Livestock:
According to the administration, the number of sacrificial animals in the market has reached nearly 4,000. Market Administrator Tariq Tanoli shared that Muhammad Ali, a trader from Sanghar, has arrived with 20 exceptionally beautiful and heavy camels of the prestigious “Mari” breed.
Trader and Buyer Perspectives:
Muhammad Ali, the trader, expressed his passion for bringing high-quality livestock to the Northern Bypass market every year, showcasing black and brown Mari camels for the citizens of Karachi. Meanwhile, Abdul Rauf, a buyer from New Karachi, praised the administration for providing a safe and organized environment for both buyers and sellers.
Facilities and Infrastructure:
To facilitate visitors and traders, the administration has implemented several key features:
-
Religious Facilities: A temporary mosque has been established for five-time daily prayers, and Jummah (Friday) prayers were also held. Special arrangements for wudhu (ablution) and functional temporary restrooms are in place.
-
Dining and Leisure: A dedicated Food Street is being set up in front of the Administration Block for the entertainment of citizens.
-
Logistics: Leveling work on 200 acres of land for a massive parking area is in its final stages.
Security Measures:
Security remains a top priority, with personnel from the Pakistan Rangers and Sindh Police alert on all routes leading to the market. Additional forces are being deployed to ensure foolproof security as the crowds grow.
The administration confirmed that the arrival of animals and trading activities will continue until the days of Eid-ul-Adha, with every effort being made to provide a seamless experience for the public.
