US Deploys THAAD Missile Defense System from South Korea to Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

Washington (HRNW)- The United States has reportedly relocated its advanced THAAD missile defense system from South Korea to the Middle East, according to media reports, as regional tensions involving Iran continue to escalate.

The move is aimed at strengthening the defense of Israel and US military bases in the region against potential Iranian missile threats. The US Department of Defense has decided to reposition parts of the THAAD system in response to the increasing risk of missile attacks.

THAAD was originally deployed in South Korea in 2017 to counter the threat from North Korea’s missile program. However, its transfer has raised concerns in some political circles in South Korea, where analysts warn that the relocation could impact the regional defense balance.

Officials say the redeployment reflects changing security priorities as tensions grow in the Middle East.
