LAHORE (HRNW): In a significant crackdown against organized blackmailing, the Misri Shah Police has dismantled a notorious “honey-trap” gang consisting of a mother, her daughter, and a stepfather. The group is accused of extorting hundreds of thousands of rupees from a 70-year-old citizen through coercion and recorded blackmail.
SP City Bilal Ahmed detailed the operation, revealing that the gang lured the elderly victim to their house under the pretext of repairing a refrigerator. Once inside, the suspects allegedly assaulted the man and forcibly filmed an explicit video with one of the female suspects to use as leverage for blackmail.
Key Details of the Case:
-
Extortion: The suspects reportedly extorted Rs 700,000 from the victim over a four-month period. Not satisfied with the cash, they began demanding his vehicle and rickshaw.
-
Robbery at Gunpoint: On the day of the trap, the suspects also snatched Rs 70,000 in cash and the victim’s professional tools.
-
Victim’s Trauma: The prolonged harassment and financial ruin led the elderly citizen to attempt suicide before the police intervened.
-
The Arrest: Acting on a tip-off, a team led by SHO Ali Zeb Dastgir and Sub-Inspector Muneeb apprehended the three suspects, including two women and one man.
Police have recovered the extorted cash and the incriminating mobile footage from the suspects’ possession. A formal case has been registered, and further investigations are underway to identify other potential victims of this gang. SP City Bilal Ahmed commended the Misri Shah team for their swift response in neutralizing this predatory group.
