Jamaat-e-Islami Demands Accountability from Karachi Mayor over Billions in Public Funds

Karachi (HRNW)A spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami has called on Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab to provide a detailed account of the annual Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) budget of PKR 55 billion. The spokesperson questioned the management of key public services, asking where the PKR 47 billion allocated to the Water Corporation and PKR 43 billion for solid waste management are being spent.

The party also criticized the Sindh provincial government for not disclosing the details of its PKR 3,451 billion budget to the public. According to the spokesperson, despite enormous allocations, Karachi continues to face critical infrastructural and civic challenges, with the mayor’s performance described as “zero” in addressing the city’s pressing problems.

This demand highlights growing public concerns over transparency, governance, and the effective use of public funds, emphasizing the need for accountability in municipal and provincial administration.
