The World Health Organization and the UN Quadripartite partners are supporting Brunei Darussalam in developing a stronger One Health approach, bringing human, animal and environmental health together to address emerging health threats.
WHO reported on 11 September that Brunei is charting a national course for One Health, reflecting growing international recognition that diseases and health risks can cross the boundaries between people, animals and ecosystems.
The initiative aims to strengthen coordination between health, veterinary, environmental and other sectors, helping the country improve preparedness for infectious diseases and other complex health threats.
The development comes as countries across the Asia-Pacific region face increasing pressure from climate change, emerging infections and other cross-sector health risks.
