Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has once again issued a stern warning to Iran, saying that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened for international shipping very soon or Tehran will face severe consequences.
Speaking to Fox News, President Trump said he expects maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to resume shortly, warning that if this does not happen, the United States will take strong action against Iran.
Trump said, “The Strait of Hormuz will be opened very soon, otherwise Iran will be hit very hard.” However, he did not provide further details regarding the nature or timing of any possible action.
Speaking separately to reporters, the US President also indicated that a possible agreement with Iran could be reached within 48 hours.
President Trump’s remarks come at a time when uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continues to raise concerns in global energy markets and international maritime trade.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping routes, through which large volumes of crude oil and liquefied natural gas are transported. Any disruption to traffic through the waterway could have an immediate impact on global energy supplies and oil prices.
