Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters, claimed that the United States had inflicted heavy damage on Iran during the ongoing conflict and said Tehran would pay a very high price for the war.
According to the World News Agency, President Trump stated that Iran is being severely weakened and destroyed as a result of the conflict.
During the interaction, Trump was asked whether the American public still supports the war despite the increasing number of US military casualties in the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
In response, Trump said that Americans are not opposed to the war. He acknowledged that people are concerned about rising petrol prices but claimed that the public still supports military action against Iran, adding that this was reflected in a recent survey.
However, the US President did not identify the survey he was referring to, and his claim could not be independently verified. Several recent public opinion polls have presented different findings.
According to surveys conducted by the Pew Research Center in March and May 2026, around 60 percent of Americans viewed military action against Iran as a bad decision, while a similar percentage disapproved of President Trump’s Iran policy. Only about one-third expressed support for his approach.
A recent Reuters/Ipsos survey also found that only 37 percent of Americans supported US military strikes against Iran, while a majority expressed concern over the prolonged conflict and its economic consequences.
According to US media reports, the ongoing conflict has already cost billions of dollars, resulted in the deaths of several US service members and injuries to hundreds more, and contributed to higher global oil prices, placing additional pressure on the US economy and President Trump’s public approval ratings.
