Karachi (HRNW)— The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) have apprehended members of an extortion gang involved in a recent shooting at a car showroom in Karachi. A brief exchange of gunfire took place in the Jamshaid Quarter area, resulting in the arrest of four suspects, with one injured during the operation.
Recovered from the suspects were firearms and a mobile phone reportedly used for extortion purposes, as well as two stolen motorcycles. The arrested individuals have been identified as Junaid, Bilal, Waqar, and Ejaz, according to the SSP of SIU.

Investigations revealed that Junaid had opened fire at the showroom as part of an extortion attempt. The arrested suspects are linked to the Lyari Ahmed Ali Magsi gang, authorities said. CCTV footage from the incident had earlier surfaced, showing the suspect firing at the showroom. Two other gang members had fired on SIU personnel during the operation and managed to escape; teams have been formed to track them down.
The arrested suspects are seasoned criminals with prior cases of extortion, narcotics, and illegal weapons possession. Specifically, a case of extortion against Junaid has been registered at New Karachi Industrial Area Police Station. All four arrested individuals now face additional charges registered with the SIU.
Further interrogation of the suspects is ongoing to uncover any additional criminal networks or activities connected to the gang.
