Islamabad (HRNW): Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that two oil tankers caught fire after striking naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM), however, has rejected the allegation, calling it false.
In a statement, the IRGC alleged that approximately one hour earlier, U.S. intelligence agencies had attempted to deceive two oil tankers into passing through a mine-contaminated area south of the Strait of Hormuz, where the vessels reportedly struck naval mines.
According to the statement, the explosions triggered by the mines caused massive fires to break out aboard both oil tankers. Iranian authorities have not disclosed the identities of the vessels or provided additional details.
Responding on the social media platform X, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) dismissed the allegation, stating that, like many previous claims made by the IRGC, this claim is also false.
As of now, there has been no independent verification of the reported incident, and the situation remains unclear due to the conflicting statements issued by Iran and the United States.
