Washington (HRNW)- US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that the European Union has officially joined the United States’ economic pressure campaign against Iran, dubbed “Operation Economic Outcast.”
According to Dawn, Bessent said on social media platform X that Washington wants to work with its allies to prevent Iran from using the global financial system to fund its nuclear program, weapons development and allied groups.
The US Treasury Secretary said economic pressure on Iran would continue until its remaining sources of financial support were exhausted. The EU’s participation could further increase financial and economic pressure on Tehran and raise the possibility of additional restrictions on Iranian activities within the global financial system.
