US and Israeli Aggression Primary Causes of Regional Instability, Asserts Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi

TEHRAN (HRNW): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has identified the aggressive actions of the United States and Israel as the root causes of the current tensions and instability across the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Diplomatic Briefing:

According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FM Araghchi made these remarks during a high-level meeting in Tehran with a special envoy from South Korea. The discussion focused extensively on the prevailing regional security situation and Iran’s strategic stance.

Condemnation of Illegal Actions:

During the meeting, Araghchi condemned recent U.S. and Israeli maneuvers directed at Iran, labeling them a direct violation of international law. He emphasized several key points:

  • International Responsibility: Araghchi urged other nations to explicitly oppose actions that contribute to regional escalation.

  • Right to Defense: He maintained that Iran’s current military and diplomatic measures are conducted within the framework of international law to safeguard its national security and interests.

  • Liability for Consequences: The Foreign Minister stated that the responsibility for any fallout from these tensions rests solely with the “aggressor forces.”

Context of Global Trade:

The meeting with the South Korean envoy is significant given the importance of the Strait of Hormuz to East Asian energy security. Araghchi’s statements underscore Tehran’s position that regional stability can only be restored if foreign interference and provocative military posturing are halted.
