Gaza (HRNW)- Hamas has elected Khalil al-Haya as the group’s new leader following the assassination of former chief Yahya Sinwar.
According to media reports, Hamas appointed Khalil al-Haya after Yahya Sinwar was killed by Israeli forces in Gaza in October 2024.
Former deputy chairman of the Palestinian group, Khalil al-Haya, secured victory in an internal vote against former Hamas political leader Khaled Meshaal.
It is noteworthy that Khalil al-Haya had previously served as a wartime negotiator for Hamas.
