Lahore (HRNW)- The Lahore High Court has concluded proceedings on a petition seeking the recovery of Waheed Tahir, a co-accused of Raza Dar in the high-profile case involving the alleged rape of two foreign women, after disposing of the case in light of the police report.
Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Mumtaz Bibi, in which the Inspector General of Punjab Police, DIG Operations, and other relevant police officials were named as respondents. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran appeared before the court during the hearing.
The police informed the court that accused Waheed Tahir is currently in police custody and is on a five-day physical remand.
During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the accused had been unlawfully taken into custody and that his family had not been informed of his whereabouts or condition. The petition requested the court to order the immediate production of the accused, declare his detention illegal, direct his release, and allow him to meet his family.
After reviewing the police report, the Lahore High Court disposed of the petition and closed the proceedings.
