Karachi (HRNW)- Construction work on the Pipri Multi-Logistics Park is progressing rapidly under the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms, with the project aimed at establishing a modern cargo transportation and logistics system to improve connectivity with Karachi’s ports.
According to Engineer Altaf Qadir Bajwa, Project Director of the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) Sindh, the Rs2.46 billion project is being developed jointly by the National Logistics Corporation and DP World. As part of the initiative, a 1.5-kilometer railway link is being constructed to connect the logistics park with Port Qasim and Karachi Port.
Engineer Bajwa said the Pipri facility will include a railway freight container terminal, warehouses, container storage areas, vehicle parking, and administrative blocks. The project will also feature a 37,700-square-meter hardstanding area capable of accommodating 260 containers and trucks simultaneously.
According to the project director, trailers arriving from upcountry will be unloaded at the Pipri Logistics Park, with cargo then transported to the ports by rail. The project is expected to reduce the daily influx of 250 to 500 trailers into Karachi, easing traffic congestion while making cargo handling, port connectivity, and the overall logistics system more efficient.
