Beijing (HRNW)- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Sichuan Province in southwestern China, triggering panic in several areas as residents rushed out of their homes and buildings as a precaution.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers, making the tremors clearly noticeable across the affected region.
Initial reports indicated no immediate casualties or significant property damage. However, local authorities have begun assessing the situation, while emergency response teams continue monitoring the affected areas and carrying out precautionary measures.
Sichuan is one of China’s most earthquake-prone provinces and has experienced several devastating earthquakes in the past. As a result, local authorities remain on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergency.
Officials have urged residents to remain calm, follow official safety instructions, avoid spreading or believing rumors, and stay prepared for possible aftershocks.
