PTA Makes 0800 Toll-Free Numbers Free for Mobile Users Nationwide

Lahore (HRNW): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in a major consumer-friendly move, has made calls to 0800 toll-free numbers completely free for mobile users across the country. The decision will apply to all mobile networks nationwide.

Previously, calls to toll-free numbers were free only for fixed-line users, while mobile phone users were required to pay applicable charges. However, following detailed consultations with PTCL, the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), and various cellular companies, PTA has decided to extend this facility to all mobile subscribers.

According to the authority, the initiative aims to provide equal access to services without discrimination and to promote an efficient, transparent, and consumer-friendly telecommunications system in Pakistan. With this decision, citizens will be able to contact government and private institutions, banks, helplines, and other service providers via toll-free numbers without any additional financial burden.

PTA stated that the move marks an important step toward enhancing public convenience and promoting digital inclusion, particularly benefiting ordinary consumers across the country.
