Madrid (HRNW) — Spain has created a new chapter in football history by becoming the first country to hold both the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup titles at the same time. Spain’s men’s team defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after a dramatic extra-time battle.
The final remained goalless during the regular 90 minutes, but Spain’s Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute of extra time, securing a historic victory for Spain.
Spain’s women’s team had already won the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and with the men’s team now lifting the 2026 World Cup trophy, Spain has achieved a unique global record by holding both major international titles simultaneously.
