Sana’a (HRNW) — Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group has announced the immediate enforcement of a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, raising concerns over renewed regional tensions and the potential humanitarian consequences for civilians.
According to media reports, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that Saudi Arabia violated the ceasefire by carrying out an attack on Sana’a International Airport. He said the newly announced naval restrictions are being imposed in response to that attack, describing the move as based on the principle of “an eye for an eye.”
The spokesperson further warned that the blockade of Sana’a Airport would not be tolerated, adding that “a blockade will be answered with a blockade, and aggression will be met with further aggression.”
