Karachi (HRNW) — Bangladeshi Quran reciter Hafiz Nuruddin Zakaria has reportedly achieved a prominent position at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Participants from 133 countries reportedly took part in the prestigious competition, where Hafiz Nuruddin Zakaria’s performance earned him a cash prize of 100,000 Saudi riyals, according to reports.
Bangladeshi media reports further state that Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced a reward of 20 million Bangladeshi taka for the young Quran reciter in recognition of his achievement and for bringing honour to Bangladesh.
Reports also say that the government has announced plans to confer the country’s highest civilian honour on him and offer him a government position involving Quran recitation on Bangladesh’s state television.
A Father’s Sacrifice Behind the Achievement
According to media reports, Hafiz Nuruddin Zakaria’s father earns a living by selling milk on a bicycle to support his family.
Reports claim that before his son travelled to Saudi Arabia for the competition, his father even sold a cow to help cover his son’s travel and other expenses.
The young reciter’s achievement has attracted attention on social media, where his success has been described as an inspiring example of parental sacrifice, dedication, Quranic education and determination despite limited financial resources.
His story highlights how talent and perseverance can enable young people from modest backgrounds to achieve recognition on an international stage.
