Islamabad (HRNW)- The federal government has decided to continue austerity measures during the current financial year in an effort to control government expenditure.
According to sources, the federal cabinet has approved the extension of the austerity policy, following which the Cabinet Division has forwarded a letter to the Ministry of Finance for implementation of the decision.
Under the approved measures, all government posts that have remained vacant for the past three years will be abolished, while the ban on creating new posts will continue throughout the current financial year.
The decision also maintains the ban on the purchase of all types of government vehicles, as well as restrictions on the procurement of machinery and equipment.
In addition, the government has decided to continue the ban on foreign medical treatment at government expense and non-essential official foreign visits as part of its cost-cutting strategy.
According to sources, the Ministry of Finance is expected to issue a formal notification regarding the continuation of these austerity measures in the coming days.
