Tariq Rahman Sworn In as Prime Minister of Bangladesh in Dhaka Ceremony

Dhaka (HRNW)- Tariq Rahman, the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, which won the recent general elections in Bangladesh, was sworn in as the country’s new Prime Minister. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital Dhaka.

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to the newly elected Prime Minister at the ceremony. A large number of domestic and foreign dignitaries, diplomats and high-ranking government officials were present on the occasion.

Pakistan was represented at the swearing-in ceremony by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, while delegates and representatives of diplomatic missions from various countries were also present. The ceremony is being described as an important milestone in the recent political history of Bangladesh.

Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner administered the oath to the newly elected members of parliament, after which the government formation process was completed. In the general elections held on February 12, 2026, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won a clear majority in the National Assembly by winning 209 seats, while the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and its allies won a total of 77 seats.
