Punjab Launches First Evidence-Based Digital Traffic Enforcement System

Lahore (HRNW): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally inaugurated the Digital Traffic Challan One App, marking the implementation of the country’s first evidence-based modern traffic enforcement system in the province.

According to the Traffic Police, under the new digital system, traffic violation tickets will be issued with video evidence to ensure transparency. Each violation will be securely recorded and verifiable, minimizing the possibility of errors or complaints.

Officials stated that through the Digital One App, on-the-spot verification of national identity cards, driving licenses, and stolen vehicles will be possible. Additionally, vehicle ownership details, fitness certificates, and route permits can be instantly checked.

The Traffic Police further said that digital action will also be taken against encroachments and environmental violations. Under the integrated system, authorities will be able to review e-challans along with FIR status and previous criminal records. In the second phase, a point-based system will be introduced, and FIRs will be registered for serious traffic violations.

Authorities added that complete details of traffic violations will be provided to citizens through QR codes, enabling direct access to their challans and records.

On the occasion, DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir stated that transparent, effective, and non-discriminatory traffic enforcement based on digital evidence will help restore public confidence and significantly improve traffic discipline across the province.
