Jakarta (HRNW): Two pilots were killed after a small aircraft came under fire while landing at Karuawai Airstrip in Boven Digoel District, South Papua Province, Indonesia.
Faisal Rahmadani, Head of Operations for the Damai Cartenz Task Force, stated that the Smart Air-operated aircraft (registration number PK-SNR) had departed on Wednesday morning from Tanah Merah in Boven Digoel.
According to local time, shortly after arriving at the airstrip at around 11:00 a.m., the aircraft was shot at, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot. All 13 passengers on board survived the incident.
