KARACHI (HRNW): In a major move against institutional corruption, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sindh has intensified its province-wide crackdown by conducting a surprise raid on the District Population Welfare Office in Malir. During the operation, the ACE team seized significant official records following reports of massive financial irregularities and embezzlement.
According to official details, the raid was prompted by multiple complaints regarding the illegal use of government funds and alleged misappropriation of the non-salary budget. Sources revealed that the District Population Welfare Officer had been issued several notices to provide relevant records; however, due to non-compliance, a surprise visit was authorized by the competent authority to secure the evidence.
Initial investigations suggest a range of serious violations, including the withdrawal of government funds through the staging of fake seminars and the alleged facilitation of overseas travel for employees on “visas” in exchange for bribes. During the raid, ACE officers meticulously inspected various departments and took custody of numerous files and sensitive documents for forensic auditing.
ACE Sindh officials emphasized that any embezzlement of public funds is not only a violation of the law but a direct crime against the national exchequer. They stated that after a thorough scrutiny of the seized records, strict legal action would be initiated against the responsible officers and staff. The establishment further clarified that surprise inspections and raids on government departments across the province will continue, asserting that no official will be considered above the law.
