Interior Ministry Sets July 10 Deadline for Action Against Illegal Afghan Residents

Islamabad (HRNW)- Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of Interior has issued a formal notification directing authorities to begin action against Afghan nationals residing illegally in the country, setting July 10, 2026, as the deadline for enforcement.

According to the notification, all Afghan citizens living in Pakistan without valid legal documents or a valid visa will face immediate arrest starting July 10, 2026.

The Ministry of Interior has instructed the Chief Secretaries of all four provinces, the Inspectors General (IGs) of Police, and the Islamabad administration to strictly implement the Illegal Foreigners Return Plan (IFRP).

Officials have also been directed to launch enforcement operations across the country, raising the possibility of large-scale arrests of undocumented Afghan nationals.

The notification further states that, beginning July 11, 2026, provincial authorities and law enforcement agencies will be required to submit daily reports on arrests and enforcement operations to the Ministry of Interior. The government has classified the implementation of the operation against illegally residing foreign nationals as a matter of high priority.
