KARACHI (HRNW): In a significant step toward improving the city’s water infrastructure, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), in collaboration with the World Bank, has initiated critical interconnection work for the new main Line No. 5 at the Dhabeji Pumping Station.

A spokesperson confirmed that the formal process of integrating the new line into the existing water network has officially commenced.

Key Updates on the Project:

  • Commencement of Work: The project activities began today, Saturday, April 25, at 1:00 PM.

  • Infrastructure Upgrade: Along with connecting the new line to the existing system, the installation of advanced valves is also underway to ensure a more efficient and manageable flow of water.

  • Temporary Suspension: To facilitate the interconnection process, water supply from Dhabeji Phase 4, K-II, and K-III has been temporarily suspended.

  • Operational Status: The spokesperson clarified that out of the 21 total pumps at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, only 9 pumps have been temporarily shut down.

  • Continuous Supply: Water supply to the city remains normal from the remaining pumps at Dhabeji, as well as from the Hub Pumping Station.
