Lahore (HRNW)- A Lahore court has sent news anchor Rehan Tariq to jail on judicial remand in connection with a blasphemy case after the investigating officer informed the court that further physical remand was not required.
The hearing was conducted in the Lahore District Court before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo, where the investigating officer stated that the investigation no longer required the accused’s physical custody.
After reviewing the investigation report and the statement of the investigating officer, the court ordered that Rehan Tariq be sent to jail on judicial remand.
During the proceedings, Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo remarked that religious discussions should not be held without proper religious knowledge.
Earlier, the accused was produced before the court under tight security, where the investigating officer submitted the case report.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Rehan Tariq, and further legal proceedings are underway.
