Imphal (HRNW)- Fresh violence has erupted in India’s Manipur state, with four people killed, one injured and another reported missing in an armed attack in Kangpokpi district. According to Indian media reports, the victims belonged to the Naga community, while local residents have accused Kuki militants of involvement in the attack. Reports of a separate attack on Kuki farmers in Senapati district have also emerged.
The latest incidents occurred a day after a peace meeting in Manipur, highlighting the fragile security situation in the conflict-hit state. Indian and international media reports have described the conflict as increasingly complex, extending beyond the traditional Meitei-Kuki divide and involving multiple communities and armed groups.
The renewed violence has raised fresh concerns about the failure to establish lasting peace and security in Manipur, while authorities face continued pressure to prevent further clashes and protect civilians.
