Karachi (HRNW): A suspected attempt to take over the flat of a blind widow in Liaquatabad has been thwarted after SSP Central Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan took immediate notice of the matter. Police arrested three women for allegedly breaking the locks of the residence and attempting to occupy the flat.
According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Super Market Police Station. The visually impaired widow had reportedly been living in the flat for around three and a half years. She had temporarily gone to her daughter’s home when, according to the complaint, several individuals allegedly took advantage of her absence, broke the locks and placed other women inside the flat.
The affected family alleged that associates of a builder were involved in the suspected attempt to take possession of the property. The widow reportedly approached the relevant police station with her agreements and property documents but alleged that she was not provided with immediate assistance.
After videos and details of the incident surfaced on social media, SSP Central Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan took immediate notice and directed the concerned officers to provide the woman with legal assistance and protection.
Police said three women were arrested by the Women Police in connection with the alleged breaking of locks and forcible occupation of the flat. Further investigation is underway.
According to a police spokesperson, a transparent and comprehensive investigation is being conducted. Action will be taken in accordance with the law against individuals allegedly involved in the land-grabbing attempt or preparation of fraudulent documents, subject to the evidence collected during the investigation.
The SSP Central also directed the Women Police to provide legal assistance to the affected woman and address her security concerns.
