Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking from Tehran in a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, criticized the United States, saying Washington had taken aggressive steps against Iran during ongoing talks, describing the actions as a “stab in the back.”
According to the Iranian presidential office, President Pezeshkian told Macron that US behavior has shifted the diplomatic process away from negotiations toward pressure, threats, and sanctions, making it difficult for Tehran to trust Washington.
He said Iran had engaged in talks with the United States on two occasions, but in both instances, military actions against Iran continued alongside diplomatic discussions. He stated that such conduct amounts to a “stab in the back” and undermines the credibility of negotiations.
The Iranian president emphasized that for any meaningful talks to succeed, hostilities must fully cease and Iran must be given assurances that no future aggressive actions will be taken.
He also rejected allegations of attacks on the United Arab Emirates, stating that if Iran undertakes any military action, its armed forces openly announce it.
