Gaza City (HRNW)- Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim has confirmed that Azzam al-Hayya, the son of Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City.
According to Hamas sources, he is the fourth son of Khalil al-Hayya to have been killed in Israeli strikes over the years. Khalil al-Hayya is regarded as a key figure in Hamas’ exiled leadership and has previously been targeted in multiple Israeli attacks and alleged assassination attempts, though he has survived each time.
Reports further state that one of his sons was killed in an attack targeting Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, last year, while Khalil al-Hayya survived the incident. Additionally, two of his sons were reportedly killed in earlier Israeli strikes on Gaza in 2008 and 2014.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, along with continuous airstrikes in Gaza, has further deepened the humanitarian crisis in the region. In recent weeks, several residential areas and key installations have also been targeted, worsening conditions for civilians.
