Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon Meets ADB Delegation to Review Red Line BRT Progress in Karachi

Karachi (HRNW) Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon met with a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Country Director Emma Finn, along with Deputy Country Director Asad Aleem, Project Officer Hamid Khan, Khayam Abbasi, and Syed Adnan. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and CEO TransKarachi Fawad Ghaffar Somro.

During the meeting, Minister Memon welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed briefing on the current phases, construction pace, and technical aspects of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Karachi. He highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to making the Red Line BRT a model project, with efforts ongoing day and night to ensure its timely completion.

Minister Memon emphasized that the offices of the project remain operational 24/7 to monitor progress and implement practical decisions to overcome challenges. He noted that Karachi’s complex underground and surface utilities posed significant hurdles for the BRT project, many of which have been addressed, while remaining issues are being handled through coordinated strategies.

He further expressed appreciation for the ADB’s continuous support, stating that the provincial government values the partnership to provide modern, efficient transportation services to Karachi residents.

The ADB delegation expressed satisfaction with the project’s pace and administrative efforts, stating their vision to see the Red Line BRT as a highly successful and award-winning urban transport project. Country Director Emma Finn remarked that cooperation with Sindh’s Transport Department has been effective and continuous, and that joint efforts would ensure quality transport facilities for the citizens of Karachi.
