Moscow (HRNW)- Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov met with Russian troops deployed on the eastern front in Ukraine and reviewed the progress of ongoing combat operations.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Gerasimov inspected combat missions being carried out by units of the “West” military group. The ministry did not disclose the exact location or timing of his visit.
The visit comes as fighting between Russia and Ukraine has intensified in several areas. Russian forces have continued increasing pressure in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk region, while Ukrainian forces have maintained counterattacks on various fronts.
Gerasimov’s presence near the front is being viewed as an indication of direct involvement by Russia’s senior military leadership in monitoring ongoing operations.
