Washington (HRNW)- US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has claimed that the US naval blockade and newly intensified economic campaign against Iran will place additional pressure on Tehran’s already weakened economy.
In a statement on social media platform X, Besant said the US campaign, dubbed “Operation Economic Outcast,” would further restrict Iran’s economic resources. He claimed that the United States had helped transport around 130 million barrels of oil from the Gulf over the past 14 days, while Iran’s oil exports remained at zero.
According to the US Treasury Secretary, the naval blockade of Iranian ports is intended to limit Tehran’s oil revenues and other sources of income. Washington is currently combining economic measures with military pressure as part of its broader strategy to isolate Iran from international trade and financial networks.
Iran has strongly rejected the US pressure campaign and naval blockade, maintaining that such measures will not force Tehran to change its policies.
The Strait of Hormuz remains central to the dispute, with Iran reportedly setting conditions for its reopening while the United States continues to press Tehran through economic measures.
