Kampala (HRNW)- Uganda’s King Namba Kabamba Aguro Rukidi IV, widely known as King Oyo, has died at the age of 34. The death of the Toro kingdom’s monarch was announced by Uganda’s Prime Minister.
The Toro Kingdom did not immediately disclose the cause of death. However, Ugandan media reported that King Oyo had been seriously ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States.
King Oyo became the ruler of Toro in western Uganda in 1995 at just three years old, following the death of his father. He was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest monarch.
Although Uganda is governed by an elected president, the country has several traditional kingdoms that have no formal political authority but retain significant cultural influence.
King Oyo was the 13th monarch of the Toro Kingdom, which was established in the early 19th century and has a population of more than two million people.
