Tehran (HRNW)- Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is set to visit Tehran to discuss efforts to revive negotiations between Iran and the United States and address the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al Ansari said the discussions will focus on regional security, resuming US-Iran talks, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and restoring the situation to the status quo before February 28.
The visit comes as Qatar seeks to strengthen its mediation role between Tehran and Washington and help preserve the June 17 ceasefire.
Sheikh Mohammed is expected to meet Iranian officials to explore ways to reduce tensions and establish conditions conducive to renewed diplomatic negotiations.
